    Andy:

There was a thread on Pelican some months ago about Steering wheel bushings. They indicated that these things are about $80 each. The one you linked to is for a 914. Are they the same??

Larry - the part I listed is the rubber 'spring' which fits in the back of the butterfly horn pad in both the 400mm 911 & 380mm 914 steering wheels.

It's a completely different part to the steering wheel bushing :

    - which is also less than $15

The rubber cup costs $80!?! Crap, I was just going to look for one as mine is knackered, but now I'll live with mine, as is.

    Andy:

Well, I need the steering wheel bushing. If it is that cheap, I can even afford to buy one!!

Couldn't seem to find it on the Pelican website. Do you happen to know the part number? I guess that I need to get meself a PET.

    TIA

If it's for your '73, Larry, forget it. That cheap bushing is for the '74+ cars. The steering wheel bushings for the '73 are different and so expensive it will make your teeth hurt. It's a 914 part number, but around $200 the last time I checked at the dealer. Prices have gone up since then.

That's what I had heard. I was hoping that Andy was going to prove the earlier thread wrong. Maybe not.

They were using the cap from a WD-40 can (with the top cut off) to fit in and fill the space. Seemed to work for them. I'll have to look up the thread. WD-40 is LOTS cheaper than the cost of the Bushing!!!!

BTDT. I bought the cheap bushing a long time ago and took the wheel off my '73 only to find the much more expensive "cup" type bearing under there.

I live with the slight wobble, myself. I don't even notice it when driving, really.
