    1970 Spa 917 Video

Video from the 70's is really tough to come by. Here's a 13mb AVI film of the 917's doing battle at Spa! Enjoy.

Also: check out the people sort of casually standing alongside the track and the pits - it's a wonder that a dozen people weren't killed at every race back then!

    This is gonna be tough...

....Having to wait until the morning when I can get to the high speed connection at work.
I'm sure it will be just as good as all your other vintage racing posts.

Very cool video thanks for sharing. How long till you post a link to the Egerer race search engine so we can find these things on our own?

Its always fun seeing the manual effort to change to wets before the start.

At the start with Gulf team cars banging doors through the first sweeper (wonder if they even saw each other for a moment?).

The driver change, I'm thinking is anyone going to get back in? Before race radios, they must have allowed several seconds to debrief the past driver while the car is being serviced before jumping in.
On second look during the the driver change was that just some announcer guy with a microphone acting as a disruptive force ??!

Awesome to see those cars pitched and slid around.
    Thanks Curt!

My media player would not play it. It said error downloading codec. All I got was the sound.
    Any suggestions?

WMP wouldn't play it for me either, so I just downloaded the whole 13MB avi file to my hard drive and opened it with IrfanView and it played fine.

Besides resizing images easily, Irfanview will play media files as well. It's a great freeware program.

    Tom,
I downloaded irfanview and it tells me the same thing - codecs not available. It plays sound, but not video.

    codec

Here is the codec required to view the video. It is Divx 5.0. Download the one for your OS. You do not need to install the Divx Player or the Google Toolbar.
