    Question Identify LSD

    Hi all,

Peter Morgans book tells me that the 1972 S had LSD as an option. How can one tell if the car has LSD??

    Dennis,

    Simple...

Jack up the rear of the car so both wheels/tires are off the ground. With your trans in neutral and e-brake off, go to the rear of the car and rotate one of your wheels/tires - If the opposite side rotates in the SAME direction than you have LDS - if the opposite side rotates in the opposite direction then you don't....

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers,

Thanks, that's in the same direction relative to the car, right?

If you ratate one wheel forwards and the other rotates forward, "in the same direction", then you have an LSD

    As Nick said...

Rotate either rear tire forward (towards the front of the car) ... and if the other does the same (rotates forward towards the front of the car) then you have limited slip

......... this is starting to get a little like an Abbot & Costello routine...

I can state, as a hard & true fact, that Peter Morgan's book is correct. Limited slip was indeed an option in 1972.
