    Northeast US Tour Advice

    Greetings all,
The wife and myself will be touring the Northeastern US coast this fall and we're curious about great travelling roads, dining locations, etc. Any advice would be appreciated. Unfortunately it'll be in a Caravan (so wife can loadup on 'stuff'). I've never been to the east coast other than Atlantic City so hopefully the experts can offer some input. Any P-car destination points would also be appreciated. We figure on being north of NYC and I wish to avoid heavy traffic.

    Paul,

The northeast corner of Connecticut, also known as the quiet corner, is beautiful and lightly traversed. There is a wonderful winery in Pomfret called Sharpe Vineyard that serves the best food I've had in years. Enjoy your trip, but there tends to be a lot of traffic here in New England in foliage season.

I second Robs rec. - The berkshires and West conn. are paradise (except for the winters- hell beautifull even then) ..and Lime Rock Park.

The White Mountains in NH. Lots of great drives. The Kangamangus Highway is a real good one.

    Anywhere in Vt.

If you're along the coast , the Maine coast is really fine, Mt Deset Island - you can drive up Cadillac Mt. - Quite a view.

Only prob in fall are the tourists (you being the exception) They tend to be older and much slower.

If you are going to the Maine/NH area, or the Berkshires I can send more details.
If you get tired of the van you can have some seat time in my humble non S SWB .
