Yes really great photos of cars that were rarely photographed back in the day due to the events they were in (hillclimbs)

the "red" car (S-ZL 514) was Mitter's and won there as well as at Mugello in 1967 (DNF at Targa Florio) I think it was 910-025 and competed in a variety of body styles at the time

The "green" car in the photos was Rolf Stommelen #197 and I think it was 910-030

These must be from two different days or events, yes? The roll-over hoops are white in the top photos, and black in the bottom photos.
A very nice color view of the rear frame, the 8-cylinder 771 engine and the mag-cased transmission.

Paul Frere has a chapter devoted to these cars in his book The Racing Porsches; A Technical Triumph.

For the '67 Ollon-Villars event, he said that Mitter won in the aluminum-framed 025. Stommelen drove the steel-framed 030.
At the final event at Gaisberg, he said the cars were exchanged and Stommelen in 025 beat Mitter in 030.

In his usual way, the 910 hill climb cars are described in great detail, even with changes and developments from race to race.

to bring the hillclimb race issue up again.....

I could purchase a nice set of pictures with several pics from the mid 60ies races....
some had been hillclimb, others Nurburgring and some really rare Ferrari pics..

    to start off:

    Rossfeld Hill Climb,
    Int. Alpen-Bergpreis Rossfeld,
    World Sportscar Championship (round 8)
    7.6.1964

    Start Number #61,
    Werner Brockhaus (D)
    11th, 7:03.320
    (32s140 behind the winner)
Grid: (3:28.340)

Porsche 904 GTS, Frame Number 904-030,
    Engine: 587/3; no. 99 021
    Gear Box: 904 029
    License plate: FR-E 82
    Delivery Date: 21.2.1964
    Color: 6206 silver

It was delivered on February 21, 1964, the dealer was Baden-Auto in Freiburg. The first customer was actually Werner Brockhaus from Horben. The car was originally delivered with engine no. 99 021 and gearbox no. 904 029 and the sports exhaust as an extra. The paintwork was silver metallic and the interior was blue. He probably had his first race on April 19, 1964 at the hill climb in Eberbach, where he took 2nd place in the GT class with Werner Brockhaus.

In 1966 the car went to France. It was then sold to Bernard Halter, an Alsatian, who kept it for about a year along with its German number plates. Also the next 3rd French owners (Robert Barret, Pont-a-Mousson 1966; Marcel Petitjean, Strasbourg 1968; D Thiry 1968) used it in races at least until 1968. At least D. Thiry's car was mostly painted white when he entered it in the 1968 Lorraine Rally. He registered it as 5792 QB 67 in early 1968. The last owner bought it at the end of the same year (1968). On this day he realized his "automobile dream". After seeing the 904 at Le Mans in 1964, he kept looking for a copy of this fabulous car, which he would never sell. Shortly after driving the car home, the 4-cylinder, 4-ACT, dual-ignition engine broke. It was replaced in early 1969 by the 911S engine that was still in the car at the 2006 auction. The rev counter and the combined "oil pressure gauge" have also been modified to match the engine. At the wheel, the owner did some local shopping. The last sticker from 1973/1974 is still on the windscreen. A picture from 1972 shows 904 030 with the white paintwork and red in the sill area. The car was then in Cannes, after a brief exhibition at the Paul Ricard Museum, it was finally put away to come out again in February 2006.
