    SSI Heat exchanger question

    Is there any performance benfit to SSI's on an early (1970E) car ?
    with a stock muffler compared to stock exchangers.

    There shouldn't be. The only advantage over the originals is that you should never have to buy another pair due to rust (and they look nice)!

    OK..that is what I figured.
    What color are the old style HE's supposed to be? Mine are black & appear to have been painted at one time.
    I have the SSI's & a 2in/1out Monty on my SC....huge difference in performance !

    Hopefully not to hide rust. They actually look pretty decent , heat output
    is good. When I have $900 to blow I'll probably convert to SSI.

    Thats on my short list and since my car is a 901/05 with the OE HE's (and the restrictor ring ) shouldn't I see around a 10 HP gain ?
