    Question Drivers Door Jamb Decode

Hi, this is Matt (86 911) from the PelicanParts board. I am having some trouble finiding out what the tag on the driver's door jamb that says "M8" stands for. The car is a 1976 911. Randy Webb thought I might get some results here. Thanks Randy! Here is the link for my post on Pelican:

    Thanks for the help!

    Matt,

I saw you post on Pelican and looked in some reference books last night and came up with nothing. Could you post a large, detailed photo of the tag? Maybe that would help.

Its not a tag, its part of the pressing and appears on virtually every 911 that i have seen, not sure about SWB cars though.

Mystery solved! Good thinking Nick, I never thought of that.

Thanks Nick. The stamp must mean it's some sort of body code for the 911 then?

Its on both sides, I don't think it has any meaningful value
