Looks like it was a fun weekend. I heard it's not to easy to get in and out of the 904.

ok I tried to post pics here.
Resized them as small as I could make them 99.2KB
Of course the limit is 97 kb on this site.
Why so small, is it the server? I had to resize the
pics for pelican but they were 236kB.

Wish I didnt have to post a Pelican link for photos....

If anyone can help let me know,

    thanks
    Chris

    Chris-
You should easily be able to size them to fit under the 97kb limit. All the pics on Pelican that you posted are 640 x 480 pixels, and are about 72-76K in size, but I guess the PP forum resized them for you? Are you reducing resolution to 75 dpi when you resize, as well as setting the display size to 640x480? There is no point in keeping them at 200-300 dpi when they go onto the WWW--most computer screens won't display any more than 72dpi.

The other way to post them here is to link directly to the uploaded images on the PP board. You already put them there, so why store them twice on two different servers? If you right click on any of the images on PP, you can go to "Properties" in the popup menu and the path to the file on PP will be displayed. Copy and paste that URL into a post here using the "Insert image" function, and they will display like this:

Chris, I had no problem surfing over to Pelican...even though, according to a certain moderator there, Tabbydoll is "beloved"...yeah, coffee or something out my nose on that one. But let's face it...the pic posting and viewing abilities are better over there. Being a computer illiterate, all I know is that I can post pics there that don't fly here...if it becomes too inconvienient, I forget it...and the post.

    Tom,
Thanks for the assistance. Could not get the "insert-image" to work, but I
did "save picture as" then it downloaded to this thread. What a PITA

Paul, I surf the off-topic PP board on occasion, I know all about BuffetBoy

There is a bit of a trick to it, as you have to have two windows open simultaneously and use the keyboard shortcuts for "copy and paste" to move the URL from one to the other, since when you are viewing the image "properties" window, there is no menu bar selection to choose those actions. Pressing the "Ctrl" and "C" keys at the same time will copy any selected text to the clipboard, and pressing "Ctrl" and "V" simultaneously will paste it into your new message here, using the "insert image" button in the toolbar when you are composing a posting to open a "Explorer User Prompt" dialogue box where the URL can be pasted.

It's best to learn how to resize your images optimally using an imaging program such as PhotoShop or IrfanView. The latter is available by a free download from this site. Open the image using their viewer, choose "Resize/Resample" from the "Image" menu, set "Width" to something around 600, change "DPI" to 75, make sure the "Preserve original aspect ratio" box is checked, and hit the "OK" button. This should render an image small enough to upload here without too much loss in quality. Be sure to save the image under a different file name if you want to preserve the full resolution image for printing purposes, where the bigger format and higher DPI will result in much better quality output.
