    real 019 MFI pump- what's it worth??

    Ok, I know they must be worth some money, I just got offered a
    Bosch factory rebuilt 019 RS pump. I had to sit down when I heard
    the price- what would one be worth on the open market? Do they
    ever show up? Also, what's a pump with the 021 designation?

    First is first... an .013 and .021 pumps are 2.4-S early (dark alloy) and late (shiny alloy) respectively... an .019 pump is a 2.7 RS Carrera pump.

    As to what it's worth... It's all about condition...

    About 12 years ago Bosch (San Francisco) still had a rebuild-exchange and new-exchange program. Back then to give'm yours for a factory rebuild was about $3500 and the same for a new factory pump was about $5000.

    Of course that old Bosch program no longer exists...

    Today, Gus charges about $750 -$850 for a cam replacement and recalibrate... and about $1100 - $1300 for a complete rebuild of your pump.

    If you have a factory .019 pump in good or new working order... who knows

    I've just not seen a fresh RS pump sell before so I have no way of establishing
    a price. If anybody is interested contact me and I'll get you the info on the pump. I'm not in the market for one so I'm glad to pass it on if anybody wants one. I was quoted near the 5K mark which seems like a lot of money but maybe that's what they bring. I know you can turn an 021 into an RS pump with the space cam, is that the only difference? If so, you'd have to really be trying to restore an RS to want to pay that kind of money....

    Yeah Bruce,

    Just the cam and the I.D. tag are different...
    Gus recalibrates the pump when he replaces the cam so, I believe, the rack stays in the nominal position with the added fuel delivery of the new space cam.

    RS pump

    Chuck,

    Your right, the only difference between the 2.4S and 2.7RS is the cam and the tag. I've seen the pump that Bruce is talking about and it was done at Bosch in Germany.

    Hi Guys!

    I've actually got two .019 fuel pumps. One came as a spare with the car I bought and the other I found by chance here in Germany. I paid €1200 for it which I thought was expensive at the time. After reading this thread I might have got a bargain...

    You do see them on the market here in Germany from time to time. I'll see if I can track one down to get an idea of current prices.

    Thanks for all the info, I do think this pump is overpriced but I have no
    information to verify that as I've not seen these pumps sell. Stuart's experience makes me feel that this one is out of line.
    The seller works for Porsche so he knows he's got something of value, probably not as much value as he thinks but who knows. Still, if anyone wants it, I'll get you together with him and see what happens.

    RS pump

    Hello: I would think you can name your price, because they don't make them any more. Here is a little info for you. On the 2.4 S pump there is enough adjustment to run on a 2.7 engine. I have done this on 5 different cars and it works no problem at all. I checked it with an 02 gauge and it really works. The cars ran fine even with high compression and better than S cams. As a side note I have a complete 2.4S throttle bodies which is the same as the 2.7RS throttle bodies. Thanks Eric

    I know of an Aluminum 019 pump that sold for $2k about 6 months ago. It wasnt freshly rebuilt but it was in good shape. Who knows for sure? $2k was probably a steal. This stuff is for sale so rarely that its really hard to guess.

    Pump numbers

    I don't want to hijack the thread, but where can I find an authoritative guide which MFI pump numbers went with which models as standard spec? Many thanks, Robert
