    Body holes, why?

    Hi,

Restoring my the trunk area in my '73 baby, I counted a bunch of factory holes like 3 in the tank bay (20-22mm ID), 3 on the left side of the smuggler box (12-16 mm), 2 in the front for de-watering, and one for the tank breather hose. Left side of the RH battery there is another one, on both sides of the wheelarches there is one and last but not least, a small one below the brake fluid reservoir, probably a screw hole. PET shows that for most of them you can buy the plastic plugs for it, and they come in all sizes. The pictures could make it a bit easier to see, sorry about the out-of-focus ones...
Question is what intention had Porsche with these holes?

    Thanks,

    Cees

It seems to me that the routing of the hoses for the charcoal cannister is responsible for some of those holes - especially the photo in the top right.
