There are quite a few options out there, from Dansk to M and K, etc. I'm just wondering which you guys use and prefer, especially regarding the sound they produce.

Don't know what the others prefer, but I am quite happy with my Dansk stainless dual in single out. It preserves the more or less stock look, works with heat exchangers, and has a very nice rumble. At wide open throttle, it really sings. No dead spots with my MFI either. I have received several compliments on the sound, especially at AX. Also, don't find it too 'droney' at highway speeds.

We have used the Dansk 2 in single out with good results on everything from carbies to EFI. The Dansk 2 in 2 out we found also work well but tend to resonate in the driving range, making them a little uncomfortable for most people on the road.

Kenik,
The home-made versions rock. I am not too sure about the Dansk ss ones lately. They are SS on the outside and mild steel on the inside (same goes for their heat exchangers btw). The Monty is fantastic and very well made albeit a bit pricey. I made mine for about $10 and an hour or two in the shop. I was able to remove about 10-15 lbs min of extra pipeing that was not needed as well.
I have been very pleased with the sound. For a bit of a different look, I used 2-1/4" stainless tubing. The Length is 13" total. I have done shorter before, but the sound at this length is perfect for my ears. Shorter=louder.
Cheers,
Michael

What tools did you use to fab it and what silencing element did you use (if any)? Did you need a hydraulic bender? How about a TIG/MIG welder and a die griner? Anything else?

Hello: I make my own and they sound great. I use stainless steel for the two pipes out the back and 2.5" in diameter. This works far better than the 2" ones even with the seat of the pants dyno. The tools you'll need are a hole saw to cut the hole in the muffler. Plasma cutter to modify the interior of the muffler. I use a mig welder with solid wire and gas. Disc grinder small 4" one. If you need more info or want to buy one from me or stainless 2.5" tubing. Let me know. This is a easy project and makes a big difference in power. Thanks Eric
