    911 s up for restoration

I have found a 1970 911s with matching numbers the car was repainted about a 1 1/2 ago but has been sitting in a parking lot covered with a tarp but in the sun and weather since it was painted , I think the paint job is salvagable but I'm not sure.
The engine has just been done but it doesn't have the MFI ( would have to find one or put carbs in it) other than that the car has all of it's parts but is no put together( lots of work) I'm debating wether to buy it or not. Here are my questions.

What is the car worth as it sits ?

What would the car be worth once it's finished?

    Is it worth the work?

Any input is apreciated as I'm fairly new at this

    Thanks

    Fred

As in all buying experiencies the worth today is what negoiated between buyer and seller. The range can be broad but what it will be worth after doing a restoaration will most certainly be less that what you have in it. You have to have an emotional involvement with the car to justify buying one that is not pristine to begin with. They are easy to fall in love with though - the S's.

Good luck with your loved one.

That is hard to say without photos and a more detailed description... but lets assume that the paint is not ruined and there is no rust and the mice have not eaten the wires and the brakes are not leaking fluid and the heat exchangers don't leak, etc, etc etc. Carbs would cost about $1,000 - $2,000 installed. So a running 1970 S that is in average shape goes from $13,000-$25,000. So if you pay it for $10,000 and put $5,000 into it and about 6 months labor you might come out ahead... except that you are not that lucky. Instead, the paint is ruined, the floor pan is rusted and you never bothered to get an inspection and the engine they assured you is rebuilt and solid is in fact showing no compression on 3 cylinders. So, you have to spend $7,000 to repair the engine and another $5,000 on the paint and the market goes weak for early 911s and you have put $25,000 into a car worth $15,000 in 2 years. The point is you had better enjoy being with the car for its own sake not just to make money. Good luck

    911s

I know for a fact that the engine has been rebuilt, I know the owner The car has NO rust what so ever anywhere. I'm not in it for the money but like you said, I don't want to end up with a 25,000 thhat is worth 15,000 loosing 10,000 of my hard earned money.

Thanks for the input so far

I would be restoring the car my self in my spare time
