    Blue Permatune...original equipment or BS?

I recall reading somewhere that during the production run of CDI ignition early 911s, Bosch CDIs ran short and Porsche actually fit blue Permatunes to the cars from the factory. Is there any truth to this rumor?

    Blue is true

Yes it happened. My old 1977 911 came with one. I recall it being documented in more than one place.

Interesting. I wonder if this started happening as early as 1969, then? My car has a blue Permatune; I always assumed it was aftermarket.

My E had one, built 11/69 (I think). Interesting notion that it could have been original.

Permatunes were only OEM from '76-'77 as Bosch couldn't suppy enough CDI's during that time.

Those 2.7 cars were delivered with either one.

    old threat--new pics

have several of them all dated late 75 to early 76

NOTE the triangular porsche "warenzeichen" trade mark

but i have been told that in 72 they also were short on bosch boxes--anyone to confirm this?

Yes you are all kinda right as long as its from short hood on and especially in Cali (so cal) or whatever we say in California now (thanks Arnold)!
Lonny from Permatune say's they were to help out with emissions (cleaner spark means better efficiency in fuel burning) in the states that also had to have thermo reactors starting in 75' But saw them already in 74 and maybe in Cali in 73'!
