    yes there were.

there were also g series 74 and 75 Carreras that were sold with RS engines, 2.7 - with mechanical injection. There are several here in Australia, in the UK, and throughout the markets of Europe. Hence the term Euro Carrera? In the US, the car did not have mechanical injection (so I'm told), so it had the show but not the go.

These mfi 2.7 G series cars are currently the weapon of choice in one of the Historic Racing categories in Australia. Great racing, make me imagine what IROC must have been like (without the crashs).

The 74 RS was indeed the 3.0 litre, a very rare and desirable beastie - we have one here in Oz.

    Euro Carrera

Here is a 1974 Euro Carrera, originally sold in Germany in Chartreuse, since repainted to 1994 Speed Yellow. Ducktail was not allowed in Germany in 1974, but this car has an RS or IROC rear deck with the flexible rubber edge, probably added in the 70's as aftermarket, but right for 1974. This car has the 210 hp MFI 2.7 engine like the 1973 Carrera RS. Hate to say it, but it makes my 1972 S feel slow, especially in acceleration; I think they came with some low gearing???

The 1974 Carrera RS had the 3.0 engine with 20 more hp, only 109 were made of the RSR model with 60 of those sold as RS 'street' cars, so they are pretty rare. Wish I had one!

    Justin,

The point that Flat Six makes is that often the '74 and '75 Carrera 2.7 is called a 'Carrera RS'. That is incorrect to call these cars by that term. They may have the same 911/83 motor as the '73 Carrera RS but the only RS in '74 was the Carrera RS 3.0.

Having said that Porsche did produce 123 '76 Carrera 2.7 coupes that were designated 'Carrera RS' and they have the 911/83 motor. So if you have one of those cars then you have a true Carrera RS.

Here is an ad for a '74 Carrera 2.7 that is misleading just as Flat Six mentions. It is at the Roock.de site.

    This is such BS:

"fitted with very powerful 1976 Euro Carrera 3.0 RS engine"

There is no such thing! There is a '74 Carrera RS and a '76 Carrera RS but this engine is from neither type of car.

Brian is so right, its all BS. This is not an RS, its a US spec Carrera (originally 175 bhp). Looks like the motor may be a Carrera 3.0 200 bhp CIS motor

Now here is the real deal. A '74 Carrera 2,7 w/ matching 911/83 motor. Great color too! I wonder about the Sporto, maybe it would be fun for a while. Take that A/C out though.
