Thread: Horn Question

    Horn Question

What kind of horns would have come originally in my '68 S. It currently has a pair of Hella horns, but they are the longer air horn style (even though they are electric), and I have a feeling these are not original.

It should have a pair of electric horns that are about 5" diameter

    Thanks Nick,

I've seen those, probably Bosch, and in 68, they might have been one tone.

As a matter of curiosity, when did the electric trumpet style horns become available either as an option or as standard?
I will be looking for these soon as the current ones wouldn't frighten an ant out of the way !

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

A horn off a 66 911. According to the PET it was fitted to all 911s up to 68 in high and low pitched pairs

    Thanks a lot Tom

If I'm reading this correct, since my car is a '68, ands thus chasis # higher than 305 101, I'm looking for the Bosch Fanfare, one in 400 Hz and one in 500Hz, number 11 on the drawing?

Those big funky looking round horns are on my early 1966 car. Tom's picture above is what is (and was) on both of my 67's and both of my 68's.

Roblav, are you saying that the 66, 67 and 68 had the same horns? Am I then reading the chasis #s incorrectly?

The parts diagram clearly states that after chasis # 305101 (a 67 chasis number I believe) the horn changed to ilustration # 11.
