RS manual
Does the RS manual look original to the 'experts' ? How can one tell?
Thanks, Richard
p.s. the one that I have seen which was 100% original had a darker tint. Of course the picture on eBay can be of a little.

It appears original to me. Of course, it is too late if you were interested. I DO know that people are selling fakes. You cannot be careful enough if all you have to go on is online images. I suggest only buying via reputable sources.
I have one that came with an RS that I owned in the 80s and
that was before people knew enough nor cared enough to make forgeries, so I know it is original.
My particular one has a yellowing on the "Carrera RS" on the front and the blue coloring is fading and getting an off tint on the front-as well as the charactistic separation from the top clear stuff. You can see the separation all over the outer edges. The back side still looks pristine. It never spent much time out of the manuals jacket and has been stored out of light/dampness since.
I also have a replica I purchased [English version] from Autofarm a couple of years ago. It was represented as such and cost WAY more than it really is worth. However, if you have ever looked for an English language versioni you may understand why "way too much" is probably reasonable. Autofarm's version is fairly accurate with cool crisp colors BUT immediately obvious as a fake. The small lines on top-bottom are not so precisely lined up as the original, the cover does not have the same slick surface which I imagine all of them are now showing some signs of separation, and last but most telling is the use of regular staples instead of the proper subtle binding that the Factory ones have.
Again, it is probably the source that is most important. If you check this site you will see a reference to an eBay seller that is not to be trusted [I have seen him advertising these] and there is also a parts seller in SCal that has been known to represent replicas as original. BE WARY.
Please forgive as I am not naming names except for when I have been burned directly. I am SURE there are others out there doing this and it is very easy money for them. Don't be their next sucker!

I had a chance to look at three distinctly different "versions" last night, all professed to be original to the current owner. One had very bright white paper. Two had darker paper, one with more yellowing. The photos ranged from true black & white to more shades of gray. All had different staples. Each had slightly different shades of blue on the cover. All of the print was sharp. One had been sealed in a bag for 20 years, purchased long before anyone would have cared about counterfeiting. Bottom line, if you can't prove the provenance, or you don't trust the buyer, you could easily get burned.
