    Targa Newfoundland

A modified early 911 had a nasty encounter with a Newfoundland roadside in the opening stages of this year's Targa Newfoundland rally. Not sure how the driver and navigator came through. Hope they are OK.

You can see at least one guy in a driving suit walking around, so I'd assume they are OK.

    Hi Kenik

I'm not sure but I don't think he was one of the team. I heard the two guys were taken to hospital. I could be wrong. I'll post again when I've heard more.

Here are some pics of more cars before the start. Interesting collection.

Bob Saville (navigator) and Casey Holzman (driver/owner) are a couple of our local Charlotte guys. This was their 2nd year at Targa and Casey had just built this car after campaining an SC (or was it a Carrera?) tagra in last year's race. I have not heard the whole story yet, but my understanding is that they are ok. Looks like the car is not though, I'm sure he is crushed. BTW, not sure who the guy in the driver's suit is, but it is not Bob or Casey.

    From the speed junkie site:

From talking to the crew I gathered that the car caught about 4 feet air, lost control on the landing, spun and hit a large chunk of rocks in the ditch, then bounced back out to where it sits in the picture.

Our PCA group is showing at AutoFair at Lowed Motor Speedway tomorrow, hopefully we'll find out some facts then. I'll let everyone know.
