Sorry about that. They worked for me in my emails but not here. I'll try to find a fix.

They seem to have a restriction on linking to individual pics on the spoon.org site, but you can see the whole lineup of pics under the "Targa Newfoundland 2005" heading on this page.Originally Posted by A.T.
The pics under the heading "unfortunate incidents" is pretty sobering. The two photos linked in the previous message are under the Gander and Killick Coast stages. Open the thumbnail page and look for the img# posted above.

Thanks, Tom. They have in fact blocked link access from other web sites.
This advice from my brother:
To get around the problem in the 911registry forum, tell 'em to right-click on the photo link, select "copy link location", or "copy shortcut", then paste into another browser window.
Or go to http://pics.spoon.org/Cars/Targa2005/, then navigate from there to the photos.

An excellent sequence of photos showing the crash can be found in the links of this post in the Targa Newfoundland forum. More Pictures.....
Look in the album for "Day 1".
If you step through all the Day 1 photos of previous cars you'll get a good idea of what the road was like at this point. The cars come straight across an intersection and up a hill. But there's a big dip right after the intersection. Although the compression would surely have been indicated in the route books, several other cars were lucky to escape without crashing at the same point.
The crash photos start on Page 5 of the Day 1 photos, or you can jump there directly from this link: http://tinyurl.com/7wlwq
Note: The Subaru being passed by the Porsche was driven by 11-time U.S. National Rally Champion, John Buffum. Although Buffum, now retired, got to show off his form for the cameras, his primary role was to drive the Subaru WRX Sti as the official camera car for the TV2Go production of the Targa Newfoundland TV coverage, which usually airs in early January sometime. The car was outfittted with several different onboard cameras controlled by co-driver Claude Gariepy. See: Rally Legend John Buffum faces double challenge at Targa 2005.
I think it's safe to expect coverage of this spectacular crash to be included in the TV broadcast.
Nasty!....
