Thread: VIN sticker color

    VIN sticker color

I just received a repalcement VIN ID sticker from Porsche It is black w/ white letters. I thought early cars had white stickers w/ black text? Is this the result of part supercedence or is this correct? I would like to know before adhering it as I could make a repro pretty easily in the correct scheme if needed.

Kenikh, I am under the impression that the 69 cars did not have this sticker. Hopefully, someone w/ an original paint 69 will chime in.

I didn't know you could get a replacement vin sticker for the earlier cars? You're talking the one on the drivers door in the striker area?

If so, please tell me how you get them (I have a '72). Thanks.

All of these are Silver with Black over them.

SC's and Carreras have Black stickers as I recollect but it's been a while since I owned anything new!

From the dealer, but they are indeed the wrong color...

Well I guess we have established that they are the wrong color. So the next question would be if the black are O.K., of coarse one would want the original but in some cases owners are stuck. Black sticker or none at all???? What would look better?

are those numbers on the silver vin stickers perforations or are they actually black dots?
