1972 911T: Should I buy, at what price?

The car in this picture is a 72 T, 89,000 miles (or 189,000 how can I tell?), it has factory S front spoiler, original old leather recaros, S koni shocks, 5 speed, factory air, larger brakes, rough interior, every thing looks original. Has been sitting for 5 years or more, some paint bubbling, lots of surface rust and definately rust issues on door sill(s). I will upload other pictures somewhere, if someone tells me how/where.

It sounds like it has the S options which are very desirable along with sport seats, it all comes down to how much rust and where, mechanical condition and how much $$$

You have to get a sense of how much rust. The car is worth jack if you have to do 200 hours in rust repairs then paint it. Then there are the mechanicals. These kinds of repairs are hard to justify on a 'T' since your ROI will be much, much lower than an 'S' (or even an 'E').

I agree. But it appears to be worth a few thou. just for the parts - assuming you want to get into the parts business.

Or maybe you enjoy doing welding and body work - to some, it's a hobby.

There's sort of a '$25,000 Rule'. You can buy a really nice T for $25K and be done. Or you can buy one for $15K and put $10K into it. Or you can buy a really rusty, mechanically suspect one for $5K and but $20K into it. Pay now or pay later.

    Curt's rule is correct.........

He will likely take $6500 for this car. He has a 1987 Turbo to keep in his garage as well. I am mechanically able to rebuild the engine and replac/repair suspension bits, etc. I am not a welder or body guy. My plan would be to refresh this car and then keep it, or flip it and start again.

It is probably worth 6500 in parts

I'll bet you even money it's glass....a very common thing after the '72S arrived...they could be ordered as an option, but glass was instantly available on the aftermarket and it was cheap...around $100, if memory serves.
