So, has anyone dialed in the definitive ST flare shape and measurement? I f someone was going to make an ST replica, what would they do to make the flares?

I had a set on a 72, I could dig out a picture or two but that might not help. They have a countour much more like a turbo flare but are 9" not 11" they look great, I had a set of 9 x 15 fuchs on the back which also looked great.

I believe there is someone who is a member working on ST flare contour measurements and possible replication. Maybe he will chime in. You could start with SC/RS flares and stretch/add metal for the rears, or start with Turbo metal flares and remove metal front and back.

When a flare is described as 9" or 11" where is that measurement taken? Never quite understood the term and how to acurately define it.

Dave, the 7, 9, or 11" flares accept 7, 9, or 11" wheels. That's the measurement; how wide a wheel they were intended for.

A friend of mine owns the ex-Bjorn Waldegaard 1971 RAC Rally ST. He did a lot of research with Jurgen Barth when he restored the car and found out that his car came from the factory with no flares, got custom 9" flares at the rear then 9" flares at the front as well over a 12 month period. The flares were hand made in steel so no 2 cars, even 2 sides of the same car, were identical. That said there is a definite "style" to ST flares amd Steve Monk, of Bodywerkes in the UK, has built several ST replicas with steel wings from his original work on the Waldegaard car.
