    tfiv,

As I wrote in my first of four engine rebuild articles in our club's news letter the ESSES.....

    On May 10th '03 for part # 103.928.02 90mm 2.7 - 9.5:1 CR Mahle piston set I paid Adial $2620.80 ... that was with a $100 gift cert. ... and no tax with a registered resale number.
... so that would have been over $2900... full boat

Not sure WHAT they're getting 2 1/2 years later......

BTW - Lots of other good info in those articles... you get 4 news letters a year with your yearly membership... just a thought

    Hope this helps,

Chuck, Thanks, I'm going to re-read those articles. We're the ones you purchased advertised at 10.3:1? - Tom Fender

    Nope Tom,

They were advertised as stock 8.5:1 or special 9.5:1 and 10.5:1 ... in May of '03 they had both special sets available...

On inspection the 8.5:1 stock RS piston set looks identical in dome profile to a 2.4S piston, only bigger.

The 9.5:1 set I got looks between a 2.4S/RS and a 2.2S profile... a small amount, but noticeable

And the 10.5:1 looks between a 2.2S and 2.8RSR profile... higher then the 2.2S, but not quite as high as a 2.8RSR

All wrapped in Mahle logo tissue paper and in Mahle red factory boxes...

    Cheers,

I called them a few months ago and they had a single set at $3600. There was no response when I asked if they would continue to stock them. Every P&C combination I asked for was $3600.

    2.7 9.5:1 Compression Mahle P/C's

I am also looking for a new set of these 2.7 9.5:1 Compression Mahle P/C's. If anyone has a set for sale, or a source other than Andial, I'd be interested.

    Thanks

another alternative is stock 2.7 barrels and JE pistons from EBS - you can pick any comp ratio you like.

    2.8RSR P/C's

Sorry if this is a little off topic...

I'm looking for info on the 2.8RSR pistons/cylinders that were produced by Mahle for use with the standard 2.7RS heads.

I'm told there were two types of 2.8RSR p/c's available from Mahle. One was a race version and the other could be used with standard heads without contact between the valves and crown. The race version can be used with standard heads but it requires spacers to be fitted between the engine case and the cylinders.

I believe the non race version is no longer available so I would like info about these parts so I can produce replica parts. Any pictures/dimensions would be fantastic!

    Thanks, Stuart

EBS advertises as carrying Mahle 2.8's with a comp.ratio of about 10.3:1. I was quoted around $2800 a few months back. I would confirm this with them.
I have a used set of 2.8 RSR's that have been cut down to lower the compression ratio to 10.3:1 with Mahle barrels for sale.
