    '71T Coupe

Beautiful coupe, Don - especially so since I just (re)acquired it's sister car in #8888 Gold metallic - outfitted almost exactly the same with S/R, "S" suspension, brakes, trim etc. Mine however is overdue for it's first repaint.

Can you help with an originality question? I've been wondering whether the 2.2 decal on mine is original - it looks very much like yours, with the grey 2.2 as opposed to the red 2.2 in the currently available version. Is the grey the original configuration?

    Thanks

I am not sure if the decal is original or not so unfortunately I can not help. I have heard that the red is for U.S. cars and the silver for European versions but I am not sure I that is true.

It is not faded. There seem to be two versions of the decal.

    2.2 Sticker

Mine's not really faded either. My car was originally ordered with the USA option, but was initially delivered to Holland as part of an alternative delivery arrangement.

Dr. Johnson book page 29 states "a decal showing a silver engine with a large orange 2.2 emblazoned on it was found on the inner surface, lower center of the rear glass on both the coupe and targa".

    I hope that helps.

I never go by Johnson's book. There are so many things that are not even covered there. A good general guide it is, that's it. There were two versions of these decals. We just do not know why. This beyond beautiful T is still availible. For those who missed out on the 72 T that I had sold, Don't miss this one. It is actually nicer in many respects than the last car. Thanks.

    Best,

    Don
