    What's it worth?

OK guys - here's one to kick about ...

1973 2.4S. Chassis number correct with matching engine. Runs OK - engine is messy cosmetically. Factory sunroof & electric windows. No chassis rust, little spots of rust near leading edge of sunroof & bottom of drivers door. Was sporto - now manual. Was Aubergine, now red.
    That's ALL the GOOD news!

    The BAD NEWS ....
Coverted to slantnose, short hood - therefore latch panel has been moved.
Needs all 4 fenders, front & rear bumpers + trim. Needs correct seats, carpets, full set of door pockets, steering wheel, set of Fuchs, sills returned to standard, mirrors (int & ext) headlights, front indicator & taillights + housings, battery boxes (cut off during conversion), replace/reinstall front oil cooler (removed & lost) has later fuel tank - only takes space saver. 901 gearbox - not 915. Full rubber kit required, plus assorted trim.

So .... is it worth salvaging - & what would you need to get it for to make it economically sensible???? Your input appreciated.

The good news? It is a '73 911S.

The rest sounds like bad news.
I don't think you could break even on this car if you got it for nothing.
This is going to be a labor intensive project!
    Just my $.02, of course.

$5-7000 as is based on what the market's at right now? Dunno how you'd establish a base price for an S that needs that much work. If a guy had a lot of the bits and pieces required for restoration, it could be worth it. Could be a great base for an RGruppe style ride as well.

What would you want to do with the car if you bought it? Estimate how much to do this, then to be realistic, double that figure. Is it still worth it to you? It's been hinted to me that I'm crazy for turning down $60K for my car...I think it would cost much more than that to bring this car up to any kind of snuff, assuming all is as you decribe it.

    As I fiqured ...

Thanks, guys ... your comments back up what my own thoughts - trouble is ... I just keep thinking .. well maybe ...
BUT seems like a "too hard" basket case. And has been said - that's assuming that absolutely nothing else has to be done. (yeah right!)

Perhaps hunting down a nice 356A coupe will be easier.

    Talking save it!

If you dont do it someone else will because people are keeping their 911S's these days and therefore they are hard to find.
