Hoot! A high school classmate & I met up at a Detroit car cruise-in. Hadn't seen him in 35 years. There I learned that he'd become a successful cement contractor and had amassed a collection of 15-20 Corvettes. He had a '55 for sale at this show. Told me it was once owned by John Wayne...later, after he knew I wasn't interested, that I was into the P-car thing, he confessed: "I bought this early in my collecting interest. I'll give you a tip...never buy a car because of who owned it in the past. It's the car that matters. As far as '55 Vettes go, this is NOT a good one."
