Embarrassement? trying to avoid the IRS, or an Ex-wife. I just don't get it; Full names should be made mandatory on this chat line; Just my 2Cents;

    Handles are a relic of BBS culture. It is a bit annoying, but it is useful in areas where people prefer to retain a modicum of anonymity. On a public BBS, it is a bit useful. This is an extreme example, but imagine being a celebrity (say if Mick Jagger was a 911 enthusiast). What a bitch it would be for him to see his PM box full every day.

    I wish we could attach a member designation to member sign-in profiles, thus allowing members access to personal info, but locking out other prying eyes. I use my first name in my handle, but take some comfort in hiding my last name. Just paranoid, I guess.

    Bob; ; Chuck; how about i carry this a bit further to the General Info and see what the consensus is on this "handle ' mentality; . I believe as stated previously members should use their given names and forget this Tom Cruise fighter pilot ' Top Gun ' Handle BS. I am also on the 356 Registry chat line, and given names are the norm;

    I just saw this post, and I agree, I wish at least on this board, people would use their name. I do not use my name on Ebay, so I agree on a large scale like that, I do not want the world to know who is bidding. But on this board, I think it only makes sense, again unless ex-wives, IRS, etc are involved.

    Just got my new copy

    My new copy just arrived in the mail here in Orygun. And to paraphrase Steve Martin: "The new Esses are here, the new Esses are here! I'm somebody!"

    As a new member, thanks for spelling my name correctly and including us "lowly" T owners with all the "S" owners. I, for one, appreciate the change from the the old segregationist system.....

    Got mine, too. Hoping I can pay via PayPal by the end of the year (make sure to include an upcharge for using PayPal to cover the charge they apply!).
