My '72 Coupe's engine lid lettering ("P O R S C H E" and "911T") are in chrome.
Shouldn't they be dark gray or gunmetal?
If so, anyone know where I can buy the correct color/finish lettering for my car?
thanks,
Frank

my 72 has them black, you can get them new, some times cheaper than ebay
My '72 E has all silver emblems and lettering. The rest of the car is #'s matching and unmolested. Is this not correct?

My 72 T has all chrome lettering also. My 2.4 emblem is chrome numerals on white background.Originally Posted by real550A
Here's a fellow club members low mileage, all original '72 T Coupe. It appears to have the black lettering and emblems.
Any other original, unmolested '72 owners care to chime in?
Cheers!

'72 (and '73) letters were black anodized originally. Most of these have faded to a gunmetal color or been "restored to "black paint" which is incorrect.

The PORSCHE letters were black even on a black car.
I'd say the question has been answered...black anodizing other than the 2.4 emblem, which was shiny stuff.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the 72T had aluminum (silver) lettering while the E & S had black anodised.
????? Anyone care to chime in?
