    Red-line and 1970 2.2S

I have recently bought a 1970 2.2S, believed to be mainly i original condition. There have been some modifications though. It is currently on 7" Fuchs rims front and rear, it has changed colour from olive to silver metalic, and a cd-changer and an alarm has been fitted.

My question is, the engine and gearbox are supposed to have been modified by an LA company called Red-Line. Are any of you familiar with this company?

The car has been imported to Norway from California via the UK. I think the last US owner was a chap called Richard Oppenheimer. Are any of you members familiar with this car?

    Jorgen,

Red Line Service Inc. was Pete Zimmermann's old shop in Santa Monica, CA.

Pete retired and sold his interest in the shop about 10 years ago...

Pete was a very heads-up mechanic and great guy...

He also authored the small book most of us used to buy our cars...

    Hope this helps...
    Cheers,

Pete hangs out on Rennlist.org and is very helpful answering questions so I am sure he would be glad to talk with you about an engine that he rebuilt. Here is a link to his profile. If this doesn't work just do a search for screen name 'Peter Zimmermann'

    Congrats on the purchase, Jørgen.

I have driven that car and it sure is sweet. It was apparently rebuilt to 2.4 specs.

PM me and I'll give you a lead on what it's late owner was considering replacing on the car.
