Thread: Progress made

    Progress made

It's been quite some time since I participated in this forum, and since I'm now an Early S Registry member - PAID IN FULL - I figure I might as well start shooting the doo doo with you old folks once again.

I've gone MIA due to the fact that I sold my 914-6 and, up until now, have had no new info to report on my 1970TRSR restoration. Well that's all changed...

As of last Saturday the metal work has begun. Front suspension pan issues have been dealt with in full, and the rocker panels are next on the list. NO rust, just poor jacking practices of the PO.

Engine work has also begun. The crank was cleaned; rods balanced and installed with ARP bolts. I installed the 3.3 turbo oil pump - modified by Ed Pink, a little name dropping for all you hot-rodders out there (Chuck Miller) - and mated the boat tailed case halves. The brand new JE 10.5:1 95mm pistons and "eyebrow" cut Nickasil barrels are on for cylinders 1, 2, and 3. Tomorrow 4, 5, and 6 go together.

I ordered a new set of aluminum intake trumpets and fuel lines for the MFI - thanks Henry - as well as a clear-fiberglass engine shroud.

The twin plug heads are due back from the machine shop by the end of the month. Cams are on the shelf.

Progress is being made, gentleman. My transition to the Dark Side is officially underway.

    Pictures to follow shortly.

    Nice!

Your car looks like it was originally Conda Green and it had a respray in Petrol Blue. What color will it be in it's next life?

I've always considered the glass to be half full...that is until I reached middle age and realized that it is actually half empty.

Wow...I applaud you! Projected time to completion? BTW, "pink rods" are still considered wayyy cool!
