I think I have seen it on Ebay before, so you might want to check Ebay history.

I rarely bookmark ebay cars but I have that one bookmarked. Looks to be nice and with a little money would be a great driver. Has anyone viewed this car?

I have no experience w/ Classic showcase, but the following is kind of fishy to me:

The engine has its original aluminium engine cases
I do not doubt that the engine has is its original al. engine case, but I strongly doubt that car 304287 left the factory w/ engine 901942 .. More likely would be a 907XXX number.

Of course when the seller has made a type it's a different situation.

    Just my $.02

I had an opportunity to see the car today:

    VIN: 304287
    ENG: 901942
Paint Code: 6604 - light ivory

Looks to be in good shape, body appears to have never been hit, panel fit is very good, doors, hood and deck lid all open and close properly and easily. There is no sign of rust anywhere, underside is clean and has no mysterious welds or cuts. The paint is in good shape, metallic dark gray, and color change was done fairly well, too bad it's not a correct color for the year. Overall the body is well preserved.

Original interior except for the aftermarket Recaros, original dash, radio, wood on dash fascia, carpet, floor mats, rear seats and headliner although there are three minor tears in the headliner.

Engine is a mystery, Richard I checked my data and I agree with you. Not sure if the engine number is from a 65 or what. Anyway not too crazy about the teenager red paint on the fan, aircleaners and valve covers. The engine bay is a bit messy as well and could use some tidying up.

Overall I think it is a good buy and well worth cleaning up and investing a few $$ to make it a great driver. Down the road bring it back to stock, pull the windows and change back to original paint color and it will be a very tidy SWB car.

The owner of the shop was honest and very nice. He runs a very clean outfit and has many very clean 356s a 914/6, 21 window bus and many early Jags. There is an impressive showroom full of vintage Jags and his restoration shop is very clean and organized with several bays with early Jags being restored to concourse condition.

    Thanks for letting me share.

I agree with you about the engine. My '66, 304065, has the 901/05 engine with Webers. The engine in the subject car has a blanking plate for the Solex fuel pump and center-lubed cams. While I have seen that in later cars, even Chuck Stoddard's 67S, it would not appear to be correct for a car a couple hundred numbers later than mine.

What's up with the tape on the oil lines? I hope that was sprayed-on POR15 he used.

    BaT Description:

This 1966 Porsche 911 coupe was completed on April 26th, 1966 before being sold new by Raffay Porsche in Hamburg, Germany. The car is powered by a replacement 1965 2.0-liter flat-six which is paired with a numbers-matching four-speed manual transaxle, and has undergone a color change to its current silver. Recent service to its dual Weber downdraft carburetors and a shift linkage rebuild with new bushings were carried out in August 2019. This 911 is located in British Columbia and is offered at no reserve with a copy of its Kardex, and recent records, and a Washington State title can be provided by the dealer at no charge.

Originally Ivory, the car was repainted in its current silver at some point under previous ownership. The condition of the paint, brightwork, and other trim is shown up close in the gallery below. A Nurburgring badge is affixed to the engine cover vent, and a radio antenna is located on the right front fender. Fuchs-style 15″ wheels with black insets are shod in older Vredestein Sprint+ tires, and a matching spare is located under the carpet in the front trunk.

The bucket front seats have been reupholstered in black vinyl with perforated center sections in place of their original Pepita fabric inserts. Matching black vinyl covers the rear seats and door panels, and the black carpets are protected by rubber mats. A wood-rimmed steering wheel rests in front of a black dash with matching wood trim. VDO instruments include a five-digit odometer reading approximately 11k miles, with total chassis mileage unknown. A period Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo is fitted in the dash, and a Webasto gas heater is located under the hood.

The 2.0-liter flat-six said to be from a 1965 911 and is fitted with dual Weber downdraft carburetors equipped with K&N air filters. The carburetors were serviced and the throttle cable linkage adjusted by Coachwerks Restoration in Victoria, British Columbia in preparation for the sale, and a receipt showing the work performed. A numbers-matching four-speed manual transaxle routes power to the rear wheels. Bushings in the shift linkage were also replaced by Coachwerks Restoration, who noted that binding on shifts from second to third gear is likely due to a bent selector shaft which will require removal of the drivetrain to remedy.

The Kardex copy lists a matching transmission number and indicates that the car was sold new to a Wilhelm Tegelhoff through Raffay & Company in Hamburg, Germany. Inspections and warranty entries are also shown in 1966 and 1967.
