Interesting. Looks like the current high bidder is Harold from the infamous 'Dreams on Wheels'.
Look at this recent thread for info on where that car might be headed if he is the ultimate high bidder.

It's hardo to really tell from the pictures, but the car doesn't look that bad, and at that price looks attractive.

Auction got pulled before it ended someone must of made an offer he couldn't refuse.

No doubt, that reserve seemed really low for this car.
It seems the longtime owner did not know the value of his 911S.

That is not an unusual situation, he said his mechanic found a buyer.

...I hate when that happens !!
I told a friend of mine on the East Coast about the car and he spoke with the owner at length. Here is what my friend emailed me:
"I missed a truly great opportunity on an early 911S. The moment I opened your email, I clicked view. The owner had taken the car off the auction. Not taking any chances, I emailed and called the seller hoping there was a chance!!!!
"He called me Saturday breaking the news. Currently suffering the loss of a great friend he shared the history and memories. He owned the car 22 years registered the last 18. As he highlighted, an old girl with a lot of kick left.
"Body was the same as new with a few classy warts, paint, no rust, started at the touch of the key and remarkable no oil drips! A great driver and prime candidate for restoration if the spirit moves. After consulting with his mechanic when he received an offer of $16,000 both felt this was fair and closed the deal."

Sounds like someone might have gotten a good deal - I wish it had been my friend as he is an avid enthusiast.

Wow, 16K is a steal! The car doesn't appear to have sport seats though, which was standard on the 1971 911S only. Perhaps there were some other inconsistencies too.
