How to clean engine in my garage?

As I am tearing down my 69S engine I thought I would clean it. I guess the traditional way to clean an engine is with steam. But is there some other way?

This is the best stuff I have ever found for cleaning greasy engine and suspension parts. Wheelwells and brake parts too. It won't eat your paint or hands or garage floor either. Literally spray it on, scrub it a bit and wait a few minutes and parts are as clean as when new. You can take a tire you think you've scrubbed completely clean, spray this stuff on and scrub again and you get all this brown foam where its lifting all kinds of crud the soap and Comet didn't touch. It got every little nook and cranny in a 911 transmission case that hadn't been cleaned in 20 years with two quick passes and a blast from the hose. Neat stuff. It was made for cleaning mildewed sails and hulls on boats in Florida. I get it from a place in Tampa called Superior Car Care -
