Thread: $5 Heuer Barn Find

Nice find Curt! I like that Elysee three season, what is the story on those watches?
Jared, I have you to blame......my next watch will be the Breitlinger.
Bob, be careful with the watches - they can consume you just as quickly as an early 911. Be VERY careful with the Heuers on Ebay as there are many frauds and fakes out there.
Here is a pic of my 1969 Speedmaster. I am very happy with itand it is an investment that will always be worth what I paid.

    That's a nice one Dave!
I lost out on this pre Tag this morning as I left to go hang out with the R Gruppe boys at EASY. It sold for $407 and I got sniped at $402. I have a few others that I am "watch"ing.

Bob, are you sure that is legit? Keep in mind that it is not a chronograph, so it loses some cool factor. Doesnt look like a Heuer that I have ever seen before, but I dont know much about thier non-chrono lines. I am very paranoid when looking at Heuers. It seems like there are more fakes than real on Ebay. Thats one reason that I went with the Omega. No realistic fakes!

No I guess I can't say for sure that it is legit. I generally look at the sellers from the US who regularly sell high end watches with good feedback or the person is happened to inherit a watch and doesn't normally sell watches. That's kind of a lame approach and I am open to suggestions. Let me know what you think of the original ad:

Heuer has made 1000's of different watches. I'm only familiar with a few. That dive watch is probably real (although not sure it is really pre-TAG), and I doubt they call it a "submariner" - that's pretty much a Rolex term AFAIK. Bob, addition to eBay check TimeZone classifieds. I'm more comfortable buying there actually:

Dave, the Elysee brand is German. They are very inexpensive and lots of bang for the buck. They are automatic and/or manual wind Asian movements. Available at Long Island Watch.
