Am I crazy or are these an amazing deal for under 25K

I always thought that these Ferrari 400I's were a pretty sexy car for the 80s. I still love them even though they are a bit dated. Now granted, maintenance on that V12 would be horrible....but c,mon...$24,500????

If you don't watch Top Gear from the BBC, they did a hilarious bit about buying a 70s/80s supercar for 10,000 GBP and then testing them. I can't recall what they all were - a Maserati, a Ferrari and a Lambo Miura. But at the track they got beat around the track by something like a Citroen 4 door hatch in diesel.

I am pretty sure that the test you described did not include a Muira - simply because you couldn't touch one for 10,000 pounds! You couldn't even touch a Muira engine for 10,000...

    400i

I USED an '82 with 10,000 miles as my daily driver back in '84;the car was fabulous;my guess is for 24,500 you'll be getting a high milage car which is the kiss of death;not even Bill Gates could afford one of thoses;if it's less than 15,000 miles it's a steal, but then it would be closer to 40k;remember they were never imported legally, all are grey market. You need to know it's service history

At least it looks like the oil filters would be easy to change .... ummm ... those are the oil filters sticking up in the center of the engine aren't they? That's about the only thing I recognize inside that entire engine bay!

    You're right - they had:
    Maserati Merak
    1979 Ferrari 308 GT4
    Lamborghini Uracco S

The pace car was a Vauxhall Astra diesel.

    Hmmm, I wonder if a V-12 would slip into a 944...

Dave, by pure coincidence, I picked up a copy of Classiccars today and they've got an 'Affordable Exotics' article. Included is the 400! Note the remark about finding one with a history as thick as a telephone directory .....
