    Driving Lights - Again

Are these lights for mounting under the bumper?

    Thanks,

FYI, these are not driving lights, they are fog lights, driving lights are not fluted, they are clear glass, like your windshield, JIM

This pic was more headlight oriented but sshows some of the details of the DOT (USA equipment) fogs. Original lenses read: "TN4 SAE 70"..made by hella, do not have a horizontal split. The fluting is totally vertical.

That doesn't look like any Hella case I've seen before. I've seen Hella lenses installed in cheaper cases and even Bosch cases. As for the Hella driving lights, they do have vertical flutes albiet delicate.

What's the lense diameter? Almost looks like the larger Mercedes application.

Not positive but I believe these to be European driving lights. They have H3 55W bulbs.

    NOS Through-the-Grille Driving Lights

Here's a set of what I believe to be NOS through-the-grille driving lights that I just acquired. It looks like the ones pictured in my first post are indeed for mounting on the bumper.

    Cheers,
    John Audette

John, those are fog lights. The housing is the same as my original USA equipment. They take a tungsten bulb, NARVA bulbs part number:
    "F2 12V 35W
    BA20s
    E R-37
    4902"
The printing on the end of the box. The bulbs are available from Daniel Stern lighting.
Actually, the lenses of yours aren't right, if you're looking to be "100% original". See the difference in the fluting in my pic above. Otherwise, they'll work. I bought a set of these from the German ebay seller for spares. Daniel Stern later told me the secret, as he sees it. Since these are no longer DOT approved as "fog lights", Hella kept making them, but is now selling them as "reverse lights"....back up lights for trucks, tractors, etc. If you have a Hella catalog, and if Tim can buy from the Hella distributor.... Now all you need is brackets, cut down grills, wiring harness, and the pull switch. Oh, and a set of lenses with all vertical fluting, if you can find them. I have a few spares, bought some years ago, but I'm hanging on to them.

John, sorry, but I have to agree with the infamous PWD, those are most certainly fog lenses.
