    Weird cam cover numbers

I have two valve covers which I am almost positive are from a 911/914 (same covers) yet the number on the covers is off by 1 number. 901.105.115.03 are what everything I've seen say it should be, but mine are ...115.02. I saw a post somewhere where someone mentions 01 and 04, but I can't find anything about 02. Anyone know what the deal is? Thanks.

There are some big diffrence's between 914's and 911 valve covers, most noticable is that a 911 has 4, alloy valve covers while a 914 has two stamped steel valve covers, 914/6's had 911 engine's in them and would use the same valve covers that a 911 has how ever, 914/4's use the same engine that 73 912's had, and VW transporter's (I do not know the year's but in the 70's) which were push rod four's as to a 911's over head cam, 6 cylinder engine. As for the #'s no clue.

I doubt that a 914 Type IV engine has ANYTHING on it that starts with the numbers 901. I've owned two, rebuilt the motors in both, and never noticed anything that would remotely be confusing about valve covers.

Ericonn, I am not an expert on parts by any means, but I have noticed that the 2 digit suffix, as you are talking about, is simply a later run on the same part.
