Thanks Chuck. I admire your dedication and I appreciate that the Early-S Registry leadership has consistantly had track participation. I'm new to the board and don't know all the rules/protocol. I'm "Ralf". If I should change to my name instead of handel just let me know. Please keep us posted on the 710's life-cycle.

    Thanks Ralf,

Yeah, it seems that all 4 of the consistent board members of this 15 year old club track their old cars...

The name/handle thing is just personal thing on my part, no protocol...
I'm 56 and I try to be pretty conscientious in my posts and responses, so after spending some time and effort it's just hard for me to address my response to "fastguy", "hotpants", or whatever... ... it's just me
Some have left their handle in their title and sign off with their first name...
Also sometimes the answers to questions are regional specific, so State and Country for location helps as well ...

And hopefully you're a member of the club, putting your membership number in your signature goes along way as well...

Anyway, I'll let you'all know about the new 710's after the 29th

    Chuck,

i never thought to ask before, but, i'm was wondering if car insurance will cover any damages if there is an off at the track and the car gets hurt?

what do you recommended in terms of coverage for the larger Willow road course ?

Personally, I've never heard of an insurance company that will fully cover your car for a track incident. But if they exist, the premium must be pretty pricey...

I go to the track knowing that, in a worst case scenario, I might have to write off the entire cost of my car. (And while I could do that financially, emotionally I would be a basketcase. But I guess having a great wife and kids would be some consolation in that period of mourning. )

But the critical thing is that you've alerted your life insurance carrier that you will be running your car on the track. That's key.

    Yeah, like Sandy said ...

You're on ANY track knowing that NO 'regular' coverage applies...

I recall only a couple of incidents on the 'small' track in the last 16 years...
However one of those involved an RS America in a roll-over-total.

The 'big' track is a different story ... you're going as fast as the car will go, while turning the wheel, right next to other's doing the same....

Big offs and two car mishaps happen regularly...

It's something you reconcile before you get on the track... and live with

So, the 914/6's now track ready for it's first day out. And because I'm in V3, I got my first race suit. Last night, I've got it on, checking myself out in the mirror (with Flavio's voice ringing in my head, "What?! Fernando can't race?! Get Sandy Isaac on the phone immediately!"). My 10 year old daughter walks in, looks me up and down, and says, "You aren't my dad." What 'til I bring out those baby pictures on prom night...
