    Whew! Now THAT's Dumb!

OK, an early 911 version of "Dumb & Dumber". What's the dumbest thing you've ever done with a 911? I'll get it started.

Shortly after I got my first early 911, a '73 S Targa, I replaced the clock because the "second hand" didn't work.

    Your turn.

I sold my first 911 to my best friend. He would not take no for an answer. Although he did leave me his new M3. Then he bought me a 70 911S from our good friend Bobby.

The standard ... over fill the sump ...

But the dumbest was taking the very first aggressive turn in the Porsche like I did in my swing axle hot rod VW .........

VERY lucky to be laughing at at that one 16 years later ........

I bought a new 1970 911T with that "born to cause a fire" cold start system...
Ignorance on my part...I should have disabled it.

Thought itwould be a good idea to freshen up the trim - bought some new rears and tried to replace them (they weren't p e r f e c t ).They fit like s#!t so tried to replace the rubber parts and ended up ruining the OE stuff .
    Strike one !
At the same time I thought I would send out my wooden wheel to get freshened up...

Bought my '72 T targa without a PPI. The wiring loam had a fire and didn't notice that none of the interior lights didn't work until that night - had to replace the whole thing before the entire thing went up in smoke. PO installed an alarm to the clock positive lead and fried many of the wires behind the dash. Purchase date: back in 1981.

Don't let you buddy drive it

My buddy was in town and needed transportation to the store. I was at work told him to fire up my 73 E in the garage. He some how hit the E brake as he was trying to adjust the heat. The light started to blink, he assumed it was the add oil light. He walked two miles to get 2 quarts of oil before he called me. Good thing it was a quart and half low.
