    Fun pic...NW history

The story first. Back in 1975, a group run down I-5 during the days of the national 55 MPH limit. Fred Flegel, in his '73 911S, had his then 6 year old son "Mikey" along. Fred got nailed by smokey. I don't recall that we were rolling that fast. 70 maybe, which was the limit here prior to 55. The rest of us pulled ahead of the stop, and I snapped this pic with my trusty old Pentax spotmatic loaded with tri-x. Fast forward to 2006. "Mikey", now grown, appeared on my doorstep, wondering if I could possibly still have the photo.
Luckily, I still have all my contact sheets and negatives from the old days. So, some closet rummaging, finding a pro who could convert the negative to digital, etc., and here we are. Keep in mind...the road to the right is interstate 5, a few miles North of Eugene, Oregon. Note the traffic density.
Today it would be bumper to bumper. Oregon's population then was a lot less than it is now. Driving Fred's car convinced me that I wanted an S...
    Thanks, Fred!

    Paul,
    Great pic!
I remember those days. There were a handful of wonderful early S cars in Oregon back then.

Yeah Scott, I've often wondered where Fred's car is today. It was a beauty..a '73, conda green, black sports seats with houndstooth inserts...
