    1971 Targa

I came across a 71S Targa and it has a blue Weltmeister decal in the lower front part of the windshield. Is this a "re-pop" or is this period correct and original. I've seen the silver decals in the front, but never blue.

One other question, did all the 71S cars have 6 1/2 fuchs or were the ones that DID have these fuchs left over from 1970. Someone said the late production cars ( which this one is) had the newer 6" fuchs that were stock on most 72-73 Porsches' ??

If memory serves, which it rarely does, the deep six was replaced with the later style flat six in March of 71'. I have an April 71' car so it's correct with the later style flat Fuch. It also has the 72' style side mirror which is correct for a late 71' car as well. I don't know, however, when they made that switch.

I've always considered the glass to be half full...that is until I reached middle age and realized that it is actually half empty.

Curt - can you post a pic of that sticker? Is it in German or English?

As an aside, here's my original 72/73 CanAm sticker. Not available as a repop. Correct for 74 model year of course.

The blue decals are reproductions made sometime way back.

    Robert..

PS,, Curt,,not all cars,, Early production 74' models cars still used the 72' can-am decal..
