Thread: When does a 10K Tach become...tacky?

  1. #1

    When does a 10K Tach become...tacky?

Is a 10K reserved for those "twin-plug-high-compression-motors-measured-by-hours-instead-of-miles-etc" engines?
    Let's say I know a guy who has a 68 with oh...let's say a regularly built non-special 2.7...would I snicker behind his back because he has a 10K tach?

    10,000 rpm tach

Hello: Go for it! If I was you to be really special get a tach that goes to 11,000 rpm like the memory VDO tachs. You can't be judged by the cool factor a tach and steering wheel will give you when the car is parked. Thanks Eric

    Bob-
I've had mine converted. As for an "excuse," I hope that I might get a few more RPMs with my new motor than were indicated by the E tach's redline. It's a stretch, but I'm sticking with it! You should go for it. Let's face it, they are cool.

Bob, if your engine will be nothing but shrapnel at or near 10k revs, I think it's tacky. But not too many people base their decisions on what I think.

    Looks good to me.

I love the way the one looks in my Tangerine car. It is a lightweight hotrod Rgruppe car. It might look a little funny on a stock car?

Hey Bob, if you're looking for something different, how about this for an option. I had North Hollywood convert mine recently. I used to turn my tach to get the shift point at the top so this seemed like a good solution.
