    Intervention!

My wife and son just sat me down and said we all had to have a family
talk. They said they thought I was unbalance b/c of how much time
I spent on Porsche stuff. They felt neglected. I guess I have to dial it
back a notch or two. This ever happen to anybody else?

Jay Leno made a remark in a show I saw regarding his latest Dusenberg; It went something like this:
If you come home looking like this (where the camera took a shot of him in his greasy clothes) your wife knows where you've been.

Yes, I have had it happen to me. If you're smart, you'll listen to them. Nothing is worth alienating your wife and kids over. Nothing.

Just kidding - yeah, I have heard the same complaint from my wife. Gotta take one for the team from time to time.

    Family fun

hello: Do what I did and get them involved in your Porsche sports. I let the kids clean stuff and help with the car. I let my wife drive the car and do time trials and autocrosses. She will change the tires when needed and even clean the car up after it being used. Porsche is a family affair and is fun as well with the whole family. Thanks Eric

    Talking

I feel that the sacrifices one needs to make in order to keep peace and harmony are worth all the work and effort. Do whatever it takes.

I built the Missus her own car; the '73 Tangerine 2.7 Lightweight RatBastard. I knew I had her properly indoctrinated when she asked for a roll bar and harnesses. I didn't have to throw her out after all!

DH, unbalanced? If they really loved you, they would rally around you and support your interests in early 911s. I'm certain that Dr. Phil would agree. Heh, heh.

I am fortunate that it has not happened to me, but if it did, I would change course in a heart-beat. You loved ones are the most precious, which no car could replace. Please make a commitment to them that you have heard them, would never do anything to alienate them or their love, and that you be happy to spend more time with them.

Absence does make the heart grow fonder and your absence from your car will make it the time with it that much sweeter.

You can have your cake and eat it too, but perhaps just a little less cake...

    Good luck.
