Early 911 shop manuals on CD

    Too bad it's in German:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=4605799908

Tell me again WHY no one has converted their English version via scanning? Oh yeah, preserving an investment in rare literature is more important than sharing information.

Is that a shop manual or a parts catalog?

You can get the parts catalog here: http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...originalparts/

Between my poor German and Babelfish translation software, I am about 95% certain it is a shop manual. I am awaiting full confirmation from a buddy in Germany.

This is apparently a shop repair manual for transmissions.

What makes you think they haven't. Shouldn't you be in bed watching a Tivo of Oprah with your wife instead of reading shop manuals?

By the way, 792 pages works out to about 132mb.

132mb???? Why, gully geez whiz, that thar's only a small portion of a CD. Now I'm wondering something. I have a new in the box workshop manual here. Would there be enough interest in a CD based .pdf of the entire thing? And what would something like that be worth to folks? I should think it would only take like a month or two of free time to scan it all.

It's out there... I have a 72-83 shop manual in PDF format, 112 MB, 1005 pages... I got it with my car, no idea where it came from. If one of you wants it, I'll make a copy or 2, then you can make 2, etc... ;-)

It's all right, but generally speaking paper is easier to read ! If 72-83 is out there, I bet ->71 must be too !

71 and earlier is not on CD. Why I'll never know. I do agree in that as much as a CD would be nice (especially when bored away from home on business for instance) the paper manual is superior in pretty much all ways.

I bought one of the 65-68 workshop manuals on CD about three weeks ago and received it last week. It's excellent quality and also includes the entire 911 Guide to Authenticity book as well as some Porsche factory technical and options information. Money well spent!
