I posted this in the "events" category, but the general site has more traffic,
    apologize for the double post.

The 911E Registry Tour de Colorado
    July 14-16, 2006
Join us for the inaugural 911E Registry gathering in rustic Durango, Colorado. 911's are meant to be driven and the highlight of this event will be a day-long tour through some of the most scenic and breathtaking roads in southwestern Colorado. It will also be a great chance to meet some fellow Porsche enthusiasts who share your passion for early 911's. The event is being organized by The 911E Registry, but all early 911's are welcome. If you love to drive your Porsche, you shouldn't miss the Tour de Colorado!

Saturday morning we will drive north on the Million Dollar Highway from Durango to Ouray. We will traverse over 3 passes and reach altitudes of 11,000 feet before we drop into Ouray, which the locals call "little Switzerland". Then we'll move on to Ridgway, past Ralph Lauren's 1,000+ acre ranch, over the Dallas Divide to the ski town of Telluride for lunch. After lunch, we'll leave Telluride and drive over the 10,000 foot Lizard Head pass on our way back to Durango. In all, this 231 mile loop includes 4 mountain passes and incredible mountain views, with hundreds of S-turns, hairpin turns, and switchbacks! Have you ever wanted to drive the Targa Florio? Well, this is as close as most of us will get!

If you want to make a vacation out of this trip, Durango features world class fly fishing, biking and hiking, kayaking, and river rafting. The famous Durango to Silverton narrow gauge steam railroad runs daily up to the scenic mining town of Silverton (reservations needed). Mesa Verde National Park is less than 1 hour away. Durango's downtown features several restored Victorian-style buildings housing over 20 art galleries and nearly 60 restaurants. Take a stroll down Historic Main Avenue for a classic western experience! Durango has something for everyone!!

    Caravan

We Southern California folks should form a caravan and convoy out there. I think it's about a 12 hour drive.
