    '67 911S mystery...is this really an "S"?

A fellow over on the Pelican board bought a '67 911 from a storage lot. This car is an "S" in everything but the VIN number (no "S" after the VIN), and the dash facia which is leather grained instead of basketweave. It has a '67 S brakes, interior, tranny, engine, decklid etc.

The factory made some of the early build S models without the "S" in the VIN. Did they also use the base model leather grain dash? Check out this thread and give your opinion. I love mysteries like these.

They did? That is news to me. I posted on that thread on PP also, but would love to hear about any of the "S" models anyone knows of coming out of the factory with no "S" in the VIN in 1967. I went down that road 7 or 8 years ago with what appeared to be a 1966 "911S" and could never verify such a possibility.

    Mystery Solved

Okay, here is the story. . .taking notes? The owner of the car built it to be a 1967 911S. It is not a true S. I will be restoring this car and living it as an S "clone" if you will. The car has a rebuilt tranny and S engine. Regards, Freddie

RSR clones, RS clones, ST Clones, and now S Clones. Looks like my humble S's ship has come in.

Any guesses when there will be T clones? Just what do you make into a T? Oh, a 912! Which leads us to 912 Clones

    The S owners are honored.
