Price of a top end rebuild in Chicago?

    Hey folks-
My 68 911s burns oil and smokes quite a bit of late and was wondering how much a top end rebuild will run$$? And if anyone know a good knowledgable mechinic in the Chicago area please pass along the info.

    Much obliged!

If you want a proven track record, try either Midwest Eurosport (http://www.midwesteurosport.com) in Bensenville or Perfect Power (http://www.perfectpowerinc.com/index.html) in Libertyville.

    Hi Al,

We do work for people in Chicago and southern Wisconsin. I'd be glad to talk options with you.

BTW, Chris Streit has a proven track record, too. He builds a number of engines every year, and races them besides. I won't be concerned about giving him my engine - but you can pay a lot more, and have a nice fancy shop by going to the other shops mentioned. There are a lot of pricey shops in Chicago.

It all depends on what you are looking for. There is a fairly tight knit Porsche Gruppe in Chicago, and they depend on each other a lot.

Another guy, like Chris, is Souk - MotoMotions - he's out in Oswego, but he is also very knowledgeable - and without an expensive shop. (630) 258-0134.

I have to give props to Chris at Moto-Delta http://moto-delta.com (the website listed earlier is wrong). I used one of the other big name shops for some work and would use (and have used for other things) Chris over them if I did it again.
