    WTT:72 Sport Seats

I don't like the fact that the vinyl grain of my 72 sport seats does not match the rest of the vinyl in my 70. Before I give up and have my pair of original 72 sport seats recovered to look like 70-71s, I wanted to give it one more shot. I'm also not keen on desecrating the original 72 covers. So....

I'd like to trade my pair of original 72 sport seats for a set of original 70-71 sport seats in similar condition. Must have proper perforated vinyl/leather bolsters. Inserts negotiable. With or without tilt brackets/slides negotiable.

I love original, well cared for patina over a brand new look. Hence my last ditch effort. Help save a set of original 72s from going under the knife. I'm not interested in selling them outright. Inquiries will be politely scoffed at unless you can arrange a sale of a set of the 70-71s I'm looking for. I would then sell my original 72s.

I have an additional original 70-71 passenger sport seat and would entertain buying a drivers seat to match. The problem I've found with this route is matching the original condition of both seats.

    PATINA, PATINA, PATINA

Had to make my own patina courtesy of Tony G.! No longer for trade.

Came to my attention that my post was confusing. (A common problem with my storytelling I'm told. Often...By my wife...)

I've edited it and hopefully ya'll understand.

    Cheers,

Here ya are. The pair are my 72s (what I don't want). Note the vinyl grain and headrests. Next photo is of the frames (old pic from the evening I brought my car home ). You can see the buzzer switch in the seat and the harness with the clips (holes drilled in the bottom of the tilt bracket frame).

Next set of pics are of the 70 passenger seat I have (what I want). Perf. vinyl, D shape headrest. The next pic is of the 70 tilt bracket frame. No holes to mount the harness.

70SATMan am I correct that on your 72 frame the double lock is missing and that just a part of the fixed hardware is still there?

    Richard,

The double locker is a 73 "change" and occured in the early production of the 73 model year...in October of 72 (per memory). I have the exact date if you need it (I'm traveling on business).

The vinyl changed from 71 to 72 in terms of the texture of the fabric, and that the 71 was the last year of the perforated vinyl. Note that Tony from Tony's Autobahn can replicate the perforation exactly as necessary.

    regards,
    Eric

    Eric,

Good to read a reply from you. However my question is: "Is the frame shown on the picture an incomplete 73 frame?"

I think I can answer that for you.

The pre 73 single lock seats that I have had have had the piece that was used in the double lock even though the attaching rod etc was absent.

It always puzzled me kind of like they thought about the double lock a year or so earlier but never got around to it.
