    911T 1972 coupe Sportomatic

    Dear 911 (s) friends,

I'm interested in this car, that is why i'm looking for more info.

Does somebody know this car? Is the really value for money?
The sportomatic transmission is often said to be weak.....somebody (dis)agrees?

    All info would be welcome.
    Thanks to you all!

Looks nice, but seems like too much to spend on a Sporto 'T'. The Mahle Gasburner wheels are pretty valuable and are probably the most endearing feature on the car. Would I buy it for that price...no. If you decide to go for it, the MFI had better be PERFECT at that price.

It's got a sunroof which makes it worth more but still the price seems high. This seller always seems to be on the high side. If you plan to keep the car for a long, long time the market may catch up with the price. I have seen nice sportos for sale for around $10-$12k.

If it was a 5 speed, they'd be asking more. Sportos need somebody who knows what he's doing to repair, and sporto parts can be hard to find. See an earlier thread here...

That is exactly the car that I hope to own in the future. (except with Fuchs)

The conversion from a sporto to a 5 speed isn't too great if it comes down to that in the future. Probably under 3K.

The car looks to be in very well preserved condition and that adds more value then the sporto takes away. IMHO.

I'm with Bob on this one. I'm judging ONLY by the pics (the disclaimer). But it looks like a nice car to me. Price? Walk into any new car dealership, and see what they offer for the same money...

It looks really clean - only buy it if you really want a sporto. At this point no reason to buy and convert; there are cars out there..
