Thread: Cibie adjuster rings

    Question Cibie adjuster rings

I was talking to some local Cibie gurus about these lights and their adjuster rings, since I just bought a totally knackered set which happens to be missing one of them. The consensus of the discussion is that these rings are still manufactured in some form, but no one is quite sure what lights they are used on. Maybe Cibie Super Oscars or something similar? I need at least one, hopefully two; where can I get them? Does snybody have the answer to this elusive question?

    My beaters:

My research thus far indicates that the rings you desire (I need at least one as well) are specific to the Pallas-style lamp and are NLA. The Oscar-style lamp is completely different. I could be proven wrong but not from what I've seen thus far. You'll need to continue to look for a used or NOS one as I am. If you do a search on this board for "cibie", you'll find many good additional references.

    peter,

I used to have a lot of Oscars and super Oscars.

They do NOT have a ring inside the housing as pictured . The chrome lens ring clips onto the cup of the lamp body at the top and is fixed via a screw at the bottom.

i had thought that Oscar lenses might be a replacment for these hood mounted lights but no, they dont fit.

These hood moiunted lights were really a special lamp made by Cibie.

if it was me and I had one already, I'd get them laser cut and stamped into shape and have plenty of spares. laser scanning & cutting isnt so expensive these days (compared to what people ask for those lights).

When you say "lenses" do you mean the whole reflector/glass assembly?? I might have a solution...

I found lenses, and am always listening for new sources!, The problem is the holding and adjusting, to replicate the cibie/marchal design or a suitable principle of three adjusters and method of holdin the bulb to provide solid mounting (no jiggle!)and good aim!As i recall the OE bulb has three tabs to hold the aiming screw, No?
