I can't believe you let this get "Down Under"

After what was an etrnity I have finally received my latest purchase from Canada.

Its a 1971T in fabulous, original condition with what seems like original 46,000miles on the clock. It was advertised here on the board for some time and I only realised which car it was when I contacted a friend in Canada who had sent me pictures of this time warp a couple of years earlier.

It wasn't that expensive and came with some nice NOS parts to get the shockers and exhaust back into shape.

The few people whio have seen it out here are quite amazed as none of us has seen too many cars in this original, unrestored condition given that its 35years old.

I have started cleaning the 35 years of road gime off the underneath to find pristine original black paint virtually unmarked. Many hours and lots of brushes later this car could easily be concours material without hardly a dollar to spend.

It was on the board here for a few weeks so not sure what happened to all the eagle eyes but its down under now.

    '71t

Clyde, unfortunately not every one here missed noticing that car. I spoke with Martin a couple of times about it, but was trying to decide whether to get it or another '71T that I had previously owned, described here:

Although mine is very comparable in mileage, condition, and maybe more options, the metallic paint on mine has started to break down and it will need a repaint.

I ended up going with options and a known-to-me car, but that ivory paint is just so appealing, especially with the rare tan interior! There are many days when I (and apparently Martin) regret not buying (or keeping) it. So if you have any desire to trade it for a very comparable, well-optioned '71T I'll take your call anytime.

Good grab Clyde...I love the color combo as well. That's what my '69 912 had...a special order car, it took over 6 months from the order date to get here.

Wow. My jaw dropped this morning and i think i might have actually drooled staring at those photos. I kept comparing each feature to my own '71 T driver and right across the board yours looked just the way I wished mine looked. The dial faces, the steering wheel cover, the dash speaker, the door pockets, the stock radio... perfect. Be a good shepard, watch your flock.

OK that does it, no more nice cars are leaving the continent! (unless they are going to our good friends Down Under).

Enjoy the splendid example you bagged!
